camaro 350 swap help
i plan on buying a 1982 camaro z28 with a 4-bbl 305 and four speed auto trans. the 305 has a knock in it that im hoping wont cost me too much to fix. i'm thinkin of swappin the 305 out for a 350. i have a 350 shortblock layin around that needs a new pan, heads, and intake. My friend whos been racing chevy engines for years says that the 305 pan, heads and intake will bolt right up to the 350 shortblock. is this true? wouldnt it cause some kind of problem? Would i run into any trouble bolting it onto the stock bellhousing and trans?

Re: camaro engine help
Your friend is correct. All of those parts will mate up perfectly. The only difference between the 305 and 350 is a half inch more stroke.
I personally would ditch the 2 barrel intake from the 305 and go buy the SB Chevy Edelbrock Performer 4 Barrel intake. It's around $75 last I looked and flows MUCH better without sacrificing any low-end torque. If I remember correctly, the part number is #2101. |
