HOW TO.... make tachometers

in this how 2 I let see how i make a tachometer for my RX-7

things you need
- Styrene tube 7/32 '' (or something with the same size)
- tube cutter
- putty
- & offcourse .... creativity

first of all cute s bit of the styrene tube +/- 5 mm thick

then fill it up with some putty..

for the shift light use your creativity in this case i use a bit of round plastic (not to big)

now I only must paint the meter silver & white and add a few lines for the km/h

and paint the shift light red

*preview*

I hope you get something with this!

Just making sure that you are not going to put kilometers per hour on that tach, since tachometers read RPM's (revolutions per minute) just checking, I know that it might be a typo, I was just checking. Plus I thought I would be nice and reply as well, since quite a few of you guys were kind enouggh to help me out with my question. But hell of a good idea, maybe I will give that a whirl on my next one. Thankyou!

Looks good! I'm impressed. Have you thought about using aluminum tubing? You could polish it (or not) and it would look more metal than silver paint (I know some tachs are painted). There tons of sizes of aluminum tube, you could make both the tach and the shift light from the stuff.

Thanks! It never occured to me to make it myself, I've got a handful of leftover faces from turned aluminum tachs so this is a boon for me.

Re: HOW TO.... make tachometers

Nah, you're not doing anything wrong. It's just that this thread was posted eight years ago- at a time before there was much in the way of durable image hosting. People would host pics all kinds of places- their own personal websites, Geocities, or even actually on (gasp!) AutomotiveForums.com. Most of these pics are likely permanently lost. So it's not just you.
