used Chevy s-10

Hi,

I'm wondering if someone here can give me some feedback on a used truck I'm considering buying. I don't want to spend over about $9,000 and I just test-drove a Chevy S-10 LS pickup long bed. It's a '98 and apparently only has 11, 559 miles. It's an automatic and is loaded with A/C, Power steering, tilt wheel, cruise control, am/fm stereo, compact disk player, dual front air bags, and abs. It's a clean, beautiful little truck. Like new! Kelley Blue Book lists it at $13,185 for suggested retail. Yet the salesman agreed to my $9,000 limit, without batting an eye. This seems like such a nice truck, that I question the price. Am I missing something here or is the price where it should be? Can anyone advise me on this? Thank you.

You should ask the dealer to give you a carfax report or something close to that. Make sure it is reliable and not just something they typed up. If they want to sell this car, they will do this for you. It will cost them money most likely so make sure you read over everything before you sign to make sure they didn't charge you for the report. Carfax reports are only about $20, but better $20 in your pocket than theirs.

Thank you, Cooper, for your input. We finally did buy this truck. We did a carfax check ourselves. It was clean. It's been over 3 months and we are thrilled with it. Absolutely no problems! Fingers crossed. :o)
