'93 cooling fan not turning on
Hi, would appreciate some help.
I had 1 instance of overheating. After some checking I noticed that the cooling fan did not turn-on after extensive idleing. But the fans do turn-on w/AC running. I replaced the cooling fan switch, but it still does not run. Any ideas? Have not seen additional overheating even though the fan does not turn-on. Is this normal? Does it need fixing? Thanks in advance. |

Re: '93 cooling fan not turning on
run a 12v wire from the battery over to the fan and test it directly, if it doesn't run, replace the fan.

Try tracing the problem from the fan back to the battery using a multimeter.
Honestly. The multimeter should be one of your most used tools in your tool box. |

Is there another relay besides the one in the fuse box? I have swapped relays in the fuse box with the automatic windows, but still have the same problem. Should I be looking for another relay for this fan?

Re: '93 cooling fan not turning on
I'm not sure, but I think I have a similar problem to the person with the fan running after the car is stopped and switched off.
After about a minute the fan comes on and runs for up to 5 minutes before stopping. Sometimes it runs for a couple of minutes and then stops for a few seconds and then starts again. While driving the car temp registers normal - just below the half way mark on the indicator on the dashboard. My garage replaced the thermostat, but I still have the same problem. Honda Accord 1995 with about 92,000 kms. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

Gailles, your car is normal, nothing wrong with it turning on after car stop when the temp is normal while driving.
