I was just wondering if you guys and girls felt the same way about certain people having certain cars. The point I'm getting at here is, What do you need to have in order to have a good car. There are obviously no set rules but for example today I saw a beautiful C5 Corvette Convertible parked under the porch of some welfare house. Nearer to my house I saw a Jaguar S-Type In a garage there. I mean why don't these people get a better house or fix it up? I just think that in order to have a good car, you must have a good home for it. Then there's the other end of the scale, parking your 82' Chevette outside your 5000 sq. foot hacienda with 5 garage. It just dosen't make sense.

I agree with you, but if I had a limited supply of money, I know I'd certainly put more into my car than my house, that's just me.

I always think it's funny when you see a guy in a fancy suit driving an '83 Escort.

Uh, I think God was trying to tell me something yesterday. I think I will be silent about the status thing.

Okay, yesterday (Tues) I was on the bus and it's route normally passes a house in the ottawa Ghetto (Ya I know ) where this guy has a early 90's 525i, the car has BBs rims and a few other upgrades so I try to see it if it's there. The house is a one car garage duplex and looks as if it is falling apart and made in the 70's. so what do I see there yesterday? A 2001 BMW M5 parked at the end of the driveway!!!!!!! This is very rare in Ottawa! under 10 M5's are in the Ottawa region and this was only on of two 2001 M5's. I got offf the bus and went to look at it and then the guy's wife came out to do some yard work, we talked for a bit, I got a real good look at the car and went on my way. It was cool. I might go back tomorrow (I'm sick today ) and see if I can sit in it or something, the car is 125K CDN and the guys car's probably double the value of the house, it was very cool though. BTW, it was Sky Blue with a black on black interior with burl walnut trim.

I guess it's all a matter of priority. For me personally, I certainly don't need a nice house. Would it be nice? Of course. But, frankly, at this stage of my life, I would prefer to have a fast car, say with a 1:10 to 1:12 horsepower to weight ratio (weight in given in pounds), than a nice place to live.

I'd love to have a basement, in fact, not even a crumby house. I would like a couple material splurges in my basement of course. A black executive leather couch, long enough for me to stretch out and sleep on, a nice bathroom (if I were given the money to fix up just one room of my house, it would unquestionably be the bathroom - I could deal with everything else being half-assed if I had a nice stone countertop with integrated sink, hot tub, etc. - the rest of the house could be a rathole, and I honestly don't think I would even care), and maybe a large screen HDTV with DVD and surround sound. But, I still would take a nice car over all that stuff.

I agree. I have this thing for glass bricks in bathrooms, though.

Thumbs up Heep

Right on man. Those glass bricks are awesome - they look very svelte.

I find them mysterious like you can see thorugh but it is very distorted. There cool. I'd have a weight room with those surrounding them. I guess a nice house isn't all that important, somthig habitable but i think it looks better if you have a nice house to bring a nice car home to. Then again if your driving an BMW or something, people assume your loaded and already have a nice house.

I've got a thing for houses, I'd rather have a kickin' house first, just because it is where you'd spend more time, and most women are impressed more with a great house than a cool car. And if you have a beater, you can drive it like you stole it, and who cares if you wreck it?

Verboom makes a good point, if you soend most of the time in your house, it might as well be nice. I think a nice house creates a better atmosphere and is better for kids.

Yeah, your house is definitely important if you have a family. Otherwise, just the bathroom.

Yeah, and a car can't be as comfortable as one of those big lazy boy sectional couches, the ones you sink into and feel like you'll stay there forever, and well, most cars don't provide enough room to do anything other than drive, if you catch my drift. Wink wink.

Isn't it all a matter of money? Shure if you have a family you'llspend your money better for them than for the car. But as I'm speaking of me without a family. I'll spend my money for cars right now, 'cause houses are something nonmoveable. I could buy a 3 room apartment in Zurich or for the same amount of money build a whole hazienda in Brazil. A car costs(only the car!) +/- the same on the entire world. Here in Switzerland in some cases it even depends on which side of the street you want to live, 'cause they are different districts with different ground prices. I think you guys know what I mean!:bandit:

yeah, I see. I guess it does make sense since cars price are the same arond the world. It is very different with housing though. Can you post some pics of Switzerland? I love that place.
