carrrnutt VS SpyderEclipseGst

Well, some of the AZ peeps from AF were supposed to have a meet tonight...the only person I saw was SpyderEclipseGst (Armando), whom I met at my friend's shop.

We were supposed to meet at the Scottsdale Pavillions here in AZ, where they basically have a huge car-show every Saturday.

Anyhow, on the way to the Pavillions, we decided to get some impromptu runs in.

My car: 1992 Sentra SE-R
Mods: Advanced ignition-timing, Generic cone air-filter, Completely bald tires, a slipping clutch, bad brakes (they were squeaking SO badly).

His car: 1997 Eclipse Spyder GS-T
Mods: (Copied from one of his posts) Intake,3 inch downpipe, 2 1/2 cat back all custom, dual stage manual boost controller,t25at 16 psi street/19 psi race. walbro 255 fp, and the less tunerable ones ngk's,greddy type s bov, upper and lower I/C piping(full 19psi at 2k rpms). He also has the stock rim/tires on the front, since he had a blowout on his chrome rims.

(Armando, if I got any part of my account wrong, since I am doing them from my perspective, chime in.)

1st run: From a 40 roll. I stayed in 2nd, and let her rip, pulled an instant half-car...the advantage of not having to wait for boost...and held the advantage, until I noticed he dropped-back. He missed third...

2nd run: From a complete stop. After the 1st run, he wanted another chance, so we went from a light we stopped at, with no traffic in front for bit.

Even with my bald tires, I decided to launch (oh well). After some spin, the tires actually hooked, and I jumped about 3/4 of a car. at about my shift to third, which is around 63MPH or so, his front-bumper was at my driver door, and it stayed that way until we had to slow-down for traffic we were coming-up on. He told me that he just decided to roll forward instead of launching, which explains my advantage in the beginning.

3rd run: From a 5MPH roll. This time, we both sorta just rolled-out. I get another half-car lead, but at the end of our run, at about 70-80 or so (we were approaching traffic), my front-bumper was only about a foot ahead of his. I fully believe that if we went on any further, he would've edged me out.

Either way, good run, Armando. We'll have to do it again when I get a new clutch and tires.

Here are some pics I took at the Pavillions. It was AWESOME! Fans of every kind of car, from Muscle to Classic to Imports to Rallye, you had a car to drool over.

Sorry for the shitty pics from a cheap camera. This was all I got, since it got dark too quick.

Nice Viper:

Can anybody guess what kind of car this is?

Electric Mustang what a waste!

The red one's interesting. Has a Ford motor, but I'm having a hrad time placing the body? Looks something like a Probe, or maybe a Nissan product.
