turn signals out?

ALL turn signals are out! Does this mean that it is an electrical problem, or does one fuse control all the signals?

IT was the flasher unit that was out and made the turn signals not work.

It is on the dash. The hazard button... I had to pay someone about $65
to replace it.

Re: turn signals out?

The flasher unit they're talking about is the emergency flasher unit which is built into the emergency flasher switch. Turn signals are routed through it. Usually before totally quitting they start acting funny, inyermittent flash lengths, etc....

Re: turn signals out?

Thanks to you guys or this web site, I saved myself $100.
I called my VW dealership and asked them how much would they charge me to replace flasher unit for Passat 2000. They wanted $130. I went to dealership and bought the part for $27 and replaced it myself. It took me 3 minutes to do it. Once you see the part you'll now what you need to do.
Tip: First take the black cap that is below hazard switch out and then detach the hazard button itself (it comes off easily).
