2001 Impala Keyless Entry

We Just Bought Our 2001 Chevy Impala. It Didnt Come With The Fobs. I Got Some From My Brother And We Followed The Instructions In The Cars Manual. We Got 1 Of The Fobs To Work But The Other 1 We Can't Get It To Program. Do I Need To Bring It To The Dealer To Program The Other Fob? They Want $50.00 To Program It. Thank You For Any Response!

Re: 2001 Impala Keyless Entry

Transmitter Synchronization
Resynchronization may be necessary due to the security method used by the remote keyless entry system. The transmitter does not send the same signal twice to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR).
The RCDLR will not respond to a signal that has been sent previously. This prevents anyone from recording and playing back the signal from the transmitter.
Resynchronization may be necessary under the following conditions:
The battery in the transmitter is very weak.
The battery in the transmitter was replaced.
The battery in the vehicle has been in a low or no charge condition for an extended period of time.
In order to resynchronize the transmitter with the RCDLR, perform the following steps:
Stand within 1.5 m (5 ft) from the vehicle.
Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter for 7 seconds. The horn should chirp in order to confirm synchronization.
--------------------------------------------------
Also if you stop into your local dealer they will have
a transmitter checking tool, we have ours in the parts dept. You might have a weak battery or defective
transmitter, or it might not be correct for the vehicle. Some have a part# on back & a lot of them
look alike but arnt correct for the vehicle!

I purchased 2 new FOBs from a local salvage yard today. I was able to program them both following the instructions in the owners manual.

Baseically,

1. Turn the car "on," but leave the radio off.
2. Press and hold the DISP button until the "settings" menu appears.
3. Press "Prev" or "Next" until Program FOB is displayed.
4. Press "DISP"
5. Press and hold "Lock" and "Unlock" at the same time until you hear a chirp. That one is done. Repeat step 5 *only* for each additional FOB. You can program up to 4 of them.
6. Press "Prev" or "Next" to get to "Exit."
7. Press "DISP"

You're done! Once you press and hold lock and unlock from the 1st FOB you're trying to program the car re-syncs it's security codes. It will work to reprogram each additional FOB during that attempt. If you exit the menu and come back in to repeat the process for a 2nd (3rd, or 4th) FOB then only 1 will be programmed each time.

I know this because I had one *nasty* cracked FOB. I programmed the 2 new ones but figured the 1st would still work after programming the others. It didn't. So, I went through the process and programmed the old one. Guess what. Now the 2 new once didn't work. I repeated the process a 3rd time setting all 3 FOBs. Worked.

Unhappy My Impala 2001 3.4L keyless entry remote problem.

Hi Guys,

I too have a problem with my 2001 Impala's remote, I realy hope you can help me.

Recently, my keyless entry remote stopped functioning. The local Chevy dealer checked the remote and told me that the remote is functioning properly and that the problem is
inside one of the car’s modules. He also said that it should be replaced in order to fix the problem.

Since I would like to try and fix the problem myself, my question to you guys is what module is responsible for the remote function and where is it located inside the car?

Thanks,

Ron

Question

dotMATRIX,

Yes I have, but I just get nothing, no responce at all.
Like the dealer diagnose, probably the problem is in one of the car's modules, I just need help identifying which one.

Thanks,

Ron

Call Keith at 1 (513) 732-5124. That's a salvage yard. They have a lot of Impalas and he can likely help you figure out which module is bad as well as find you a replacement.

Re: 2001 Impala Keyless Entry

Which keyless remote is correct for the 01-04 Impala?

I see different ones listed on ebay.

Is it:

KOBLEAR1XT
25695954 / 25695955

Or:

KOBLEAR1XT
10443537

?
