Lightbulb Speed Racer

I just found out that the car in Speed Racer is actually called the "Mach 7"! I just got a Japanese model of it and it's sweet as hell!!! Anyway, does/dod anybody else ever watch it?! I love it!!! I also watch the newer version of the series whenever it comes on Nickelodeon. Yeah, I'm a geek! So what!!!

I used to watch Speed Racer all the time when I was a kid. I don't know what your talking about "mach 7" thing. I know the Mach 5 is the car Speed drives in the old show because thats the fifth mach up of the race car his dad pops build. Where the mach 7 comes to play at ???? don't know. I saw that model also.
Ive seen the new show and have mixed feeling for it. I not 100% sure I like it....

Hi! I finally have a model of the coolest car ever: The Mach V from Speed Racer or Mach Go Go Go as it was called in Japan!! It's an Aoshima kit that was originally done by Imai but Imai went bankrupt last year and Aoshima bought their assets. The model comes with all of the features of the cartoon car and it even has a detailed engine with supplied wires for the engine!! Also is a comparison pic of another model of the car along with my small collection of Speed Racer Memorabilia. Now for the pictures!

didn't they remake the series?

I remember something called speed racer as a kid but the program was much more recent than that one and the car was completely different.

Hey, for you who have Wal-Mart's around. They sell an 11 episode Speed Racer DVD for like 17 bucks ...I was about to buy it yesterday. Speed Racer was my childhood! (in spanish anyways) He was called "Meteoro" which translates into "meteor" (obviously). The car remained the "Mach 5" as it was called in America (i think).

Thanks for the tip! I just bought the DVD and it's awesome!! I also think that the car is the Mach V as it's known everywhere else in the world.

I also know it's Mach 5, not 7, owing to the show's original title, Mahago Go Go (Mach 5 Go Go). Yes, there was a remake of the original sometime in the early 90s, I think.
