Timing belt....HELP
I have an 05 accent 1.6L. Turned car off at work. tried to start after work. Turns over won't start.
I checked out the timing belt and it had a 5-6 in. bald spot. Changed belt, lined everything up, still won't start. Need help. Valves bent? Thanks for any help, at wits end. |

Re: Timing belt....HELP
Could someone give me any help here?
I live paycheck to paycheck...I can't afford a mechanic. I have enough knowledge on this subject to take things apart and put them back together, but lacking on diagnosis skills. Again, can someone give me advice. Going to set #1 to TDC. Then see where my cam gear lines up. If it doesn't...what next. I have heard good things about this forum, and could really use some help. Thanks |

Re: Timing belt....HELP
Easiest way to check for bent valves is do a compression test. If it's not starting due to bent valves, they are bent pretty bad.

Re: Timing belt....HELP
if memory serves me that 1.6 is a interference motor id bet some valves are bent, but as 1999 said if your marks line up do a compression test that should tell the story
