Tamiya Ferrari F40 Competizione
started this one while still finishing up the R390 GT1. Not sure if I will do the Monte Shell livery or not.
intercoolers are not glued. I still have to do plumbing and sort out the rear suspension/halfshafts and the wastegate. |

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40 Competizione
thanks guys. I am also building the 1/16 Fujimi Competizione at the same time, but I am dissapointed with the details in that kit. I may throw in some photos of that as I make progress.

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40 Competizione
Thanks guys. The washes were done with oil paint and turpentine.
I was thinking about not doing the Monte Shell Livery and doing a white car with black wheels. I found. A picture of a white F40 with an LM kit and its awesome. I also Mister it from a couple feet away with Alclad transparent smoke to flatten the shine and give it a very subtle sooty look. |

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40 Competizione
got some more done.
Eduard PE 4 point harness. Added the intercoolers and some plumbing to the engine. Pedal faces were glued on then holes drilled all the way through plastic part. |

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40 Competizione
No idea how you got that effect on the centre hub on the brake rotors, but they look amazing.
Any tips there? |

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40 Competizione
I have the tamiya and scale motorsport photo etch kits. The SMS kit comes with hubs and the bolt detail is already there. I weathered it with tamiya weathering powder then carefully sanded across the surface to reveal the clean bolt heads

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40 Competizione
Getting back on this one. Had to strip the body, had trouble painting. I have been taking some time off to practice with the airbrush and I think I am ready now. The next update should be a painted body.
I did carbon fiber decals on the bottom with a flat finish clear coat. |
