plug wires 99 K2500 454 vortec
Plug wires are arcing over to the factory wire holders.
Can only see it in the dark & know I have a misfire at idle, working on my second set of plug wires. First set one year old, second set one month old before it started to misfire. Any help? |

get some good wires. they are expensive . the oem type are what is needed. some wires are not made to the correct resistance and insulation diameter. this then causes problems. inside the boot ends apply silicone dielectric grease. this reduces arcing which then destroys the conductor causing open wires[no resistance]. before installing measure the wire resistance they should all be close in reading the OHMS. WHEN EVER REMOVING PLUG WIRES YOU MUST CHECK RESISTANCE. NEW DOES NOT MEAN GOOD ! buy some wire loom material to protect from heat and metal damage. use plastic ties if necessary to provide proper placement. soon you may find ignition failure . if this occurs have the ICM tested. arcing causes this ignition module to fail. |
