rear alignment 1994 wagon
Got my alignment done today and was told that the rear lateral links are only adjustable on the passenger side and not the drivers side.
The 96 wagon I had did have adjustable links on both sides.....what gives? is this part easily available? is it hard to do? (was told by a few people that the bolt in the knuckle seizes to the knuckle) I am toe out on the drivers side rear @ -0.30° with a total rear toe out @ -0.15° |

Re: rear alignment 1994 wagon
The shop is correct. Only the passenger side lateral-link is adjustable. Get down behind it and look at either side. You will see for yourself. Unless it has been through a wreck, or there is a bad/worn suspension component, there is no reason why it should be necessary to adjust the other side. One side will pull the other into alignment. The front can pull the rear out of alignment as well.
The usual causes for bad rear alignment, besides the aforementioned, is broken spring(s) and/or deteriorating strut mounts and tower. If you're in the rust belt, the latter two should be monitored closely. If not handled prior to failure, the entire car may have to be scrapped. Otherwise they can be handled preventatively. More details for strut tower repair available at request. |
