Best Porsche GT and BMW Kits?

Hey guys. I'm sort of a newbie here. I'm a huge LeMans fan and that's the focus of my auto modeling. I'm trying to find the best kit of the Porsche 997 GT. I've acquired the Profile 24 kits and I've gotten a couple of Scale Production transkits for the older 996 car but wondering if there is anything out there to accurately model the 2010 models. Wish Studio 27 or MFH would do it. Also wondering if anyone is doing a kit for the BMW GT car that won today at Elkhart Lake.

Along those same lines, does anyone do a kit of the Lola Judd that Drayson Racing drove to victory today? That's a great scheme.

Thanks for any help.

Dave

Re: Best Porsche GT and BMW Kits?

Hi Dave,
The answer is no, not yet?..
There is a slotcar model in 1/24 scale of the 997 GT3 cup and GT2 car but haven't had them in my hands yet. For the BMW M3 GT2 we must still wait and hope for a release...

For the Drayson judd Lola Coupe.. I seen a picture of that car on the profile24 site before entering the site. Hopefully they will release it. I don't want any Audi R10, R15 or even R15plus kit, I want the Lola coupe. I hope they will read this! :P I would get a couple of Lola kits if they release it!
For the moment I think there is nothing more on the offer than the profil24 porsche kit in 1/24 scale at the moment...

Re: Best Porsche GT and BMW Kits?

I'm going to buy a 997 slotcar body pretty soon. It looks nice at least in the picture. (Does anyone know if it's in "accurate" 1/24 scale?)

As far as 2010 GT3R is concerned, wait until the fall hobby show in Tokyo, and you "might" hear some kind of announcement from Fujimi, since they are one of the sponsors of the only 2010 GT3R currently competing in Japan.

Re: Best Porsche GT and BMW Kits?

I don't have any other information than what's already been given, just want to say welcome. I too love LeMans and currently trying to build all of the winners in 1/24 scale. Only missing a few from 1960 to present (not all build yet). The Drayson Lola coupe is a great looking car, I would love to see a kit of it also.

Right, the Drayson Lola will be released by Profil24(I draw decals and PE for this company), but after the R15+
I agree, the Drayson livery is really nice !

Seen the picture of the Drayson Lola coupe on the frontpage of Profil24. Really hope it will come. Would buy a couple as I also want and try to get the Rebellion or RacingBox version out of it!

Re: Best Porsche GT and BMW Kits?

Be careful, Drayson car's is a P1 and Racing Box a P2...Wheelbase and length of cars are not the same ! (Racing Box shorter than Drayson)

I know, but it will be the best thing we got for it
Sometimes you got to be happy with a little bit less accuracy. I also got a few Carrera slotcars with liveries I really wanted next to the others finished cars. And after taking out the slot connector they look very nice and not out of place.

Not a very good taken picture. Only thing I forgot late at night was the correct position of the wing. Need to correct that of the Carrera DBR9 model.

But on topic:
The BMW M3 GT2 will be released this year! A slotcar body of scaleauto but I buy it anyway!

The Porsche 997 GT3 RSR body looks fuller than the profil24 body. The profil24 looks a bit too narrow on the pics. My only concern about the slotcar is the price. I see pics everywhere with a chassis beside it and wonder if that is actually included. With the price for a full decaled 997 and about 20$ less for a white kit I guess the chassis is included. But rather would have liked to pay less for one without a slotcarchassis...

Profil24 was "in contract" with Racing Box team in 2009. So some month ago he asked me to draw decals of LM2009 livery and sent me a P2 resin body for datas.
The decal sheet has been printed (silk screen with all colors, no ALPS), and several kits were built for the team.
Now, I don't know if he will ad this car to his range...

My opinion : Contact him, perhaps he could help you in your project ;-)

PS : Very nice stock of kit above your bench !

As a student who still lives at home (well whats the point if they live in Amsterdam anyway) and been working my ass off with my parttime job I could afford this collection of +/- 100 Resin/plastic, mostly GT1 racers. After years of searching I could also get my hands on a 98 GT1 panoz and a 98 GT1 porsche A collection I am proud of. After some Lola coupe's and a GT2 squad I guess I will call it a day with collection and start building more (maybe enough for a lifetime allready )

Still not sure on the Porsche 997. Would like one to add one to my collection.. The BMW doesn't look to bad and hopefully a Z06 GT2 will follow to join the GT2 squad...

Re: Best Porsche GT and BMW Kits?

Michael,
Would you happen to have a link to where I might be able to purchase these kits? I'm not into slot racing but these bodies look really good and I'm sure I can use them to do some scale builds. I'm here in the U.S. so unfortunately I'm limited to English only (wish I'd leaned more German in school).

Dave
