Need help on amplifier wiring
I just got a wiring kit, and I was trying to connect the power cable to the battery from the amplifier. I Have a Honda accord 1989, and i cant find where to feed the power cable through from the passenger footspace, i couldnt find anything. There werent any holes to feed the cable. If any of you know were to feed the cable into to get into the engine area, i would really like to know where the space is that goes from the passenger footspace to the engine area.

Re: Need help on amplifier wiring
I have a 2000 Civic and i ended up drilling a hole for mine. Does the kit include a firewall gromet? If not go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a rubber gromet BEFORE you drill any holes in your firewall. Then drill the hole so the gromet just fits like a glove. Run the cable and seal it with some type of sealer and you're done. Nice thing about making your own hole is you get to choose where the cable goes and you might run less cable length.

I'm not very familiar with the older accords but just look at your firewall and find an existing grommet and either push it aside to run the wire or push the wire through it. I know on EF's there is a small hole right near the battery tray that a power cable will fit nicely through. But drilling should be your last option. Take some time to look around and you'll find a good place.

Re: Need help on amplifier wiring
don't just limit your lookin to the area by the passenger foot area. you may be required to use more wire, but if you find a spot by the friver foot area that is a perfect are then why not put it there

The fender idea is not so good. If you run it through there and then through the door jam, you risk fraying it and possibly shorting it out. If you're in an automotive class, just ask one of your instructors to help you find a good grommet.

Re: Need help on amplifier wiring
I used to run my power wire through the door jamb, but i could barely sleep at night after doing such a lousy job,so I did find a hole and now my wire goes through the hole in the firewall sharing it with an tube that gets rid of water from AC. I am pretty sure that if you look enough you will find a nice hole, just keep looking.
Through a doorjamb is like doing it with a slut, unsafe but easy. Drilling is like doing with a fat chick, might be dangerous but realtively easy. Finding a nice hole is like finding a perfect women, the hole is nice and everything goes very smooth.

Re: Need help on amplifier wiring
On EF civics there is definitely a hole near the battery tray that is perfect for running power wires. What I discovered when I first ran power wire on an EF is that the hole is much higher behind the dash than I thought, so I recommend pulling back the carpet and getting way up under the dash with a flashlight and have a friend feed the wire.

Re: Need help on amplifier wiring
i have the same question. except that i found the grommet on the driver side, but dont know how to take it out. it looks like the wires are pretty packed through that hole and it doesnt look like a power wire would fit.
thanks |
