When VTEC kicks in, you should hear a change in exaust sound, if you don't notice it...then when it starts pulling HARDER...if you don't notice that, I have no idea.

pull the intake hose off of the air box and just stick it off to the side. then go drive, you'll hear it then! remember though, your bypassing your air filter so don't do anything stuped like drive down a dirt road.

D16z6
I have a D16Z6 in a 93 honda civic. What if you don't feel any difference in power. I race every thursday at the track. So RPMs go way above 5500. Rumor i've heard the 93 d16z6's vtec kicks in around 4800. So is it 4800 or 5500 or what. And why don't i feel the diff.? What could be wrong. Odometer reads 194***.

You are not really going to feel it kick in much or not at all with a sohc vtec. The vtec function on d16 motors are more or less an economic feature. Get into a car with a dohc vtec and then you will feel/hear the difference. Even then, don't come back on here and say you were losing a race then your vtec kicked in and you smoked them. Thats just plain retarded.
