Mitsubishi Eclipse High Performance Engine?

Hey, Im working on AMT's F&F Eclipse and Im in the process of converting it into a weekend racer type car. I want to modify the exsisting motor into a high performance Mitsubishi engine. Does any one have any pictures of a high performance/semi-racing engine from Mitsubishi?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Mitsubishi Eclipse High Performance Engine?

well Mikee, Im no Eclipse specialist but Im going to take a poke at helping you as it seems 50 something other people haven't had any ideas for you.

1st take note that the turbo engine in the eclipse is the 4G63, the same engine basically as the Lancer EVO engine. that should help broaden your horizons a bit.

as you can see the engine bay is pretty tight

Excellent link for different angle shots

some other good links for engine pics:

good shot of a header/turbo.

Hope that helps you get started

Re: Mitsubishi Eclipse High Performance Engine?

isnt the engine in the amt kit the stock eclipse engine? with the tranny and LSD on the driver side? so you would have to do a lot of work to get ur mitsu motor to look like the ones in the pic.

My friend has a GST, the engine bay is in real life VERY tight. Heres a real good picture of a motor out of a GSX. (not my friends)

Re: Mitsubishi Eclipse High Performance Engine?

dude, I owned a 90 GS auto for a few months, close to a year. Man, N/A that bay was tight. but those motors have mad potential. My best suggestion, but the 4 and make a six, or take one from another car, want a sleeper? Dodge Stealth R/T TT, same car as the 3000GT TT. Put that motor in your eclipse. you can pik the kit up for 8bux U.S.D.

Re: Mitsubishi Eclipse High Performance Engine?

You're gonna have a lot of work on your hands to make a 4G63. The AMT has ths stock non-turbo GS motor which has no resemblence to the 4G63 and on top of that they totally messed it up.
