i cant believe there are so few posts about the M1, but then youre right not many people know much about it... ive never heard or read much about it, never seen one either... they were apparently great though, and they gave birth to the E30 M3 so im very happy they were around

Aparently the body panel designs/moulds were held by Lambo and when it went under BMW had to break into their factory to recover them.

Well, not really. Lamborghini passed on the design cuz they were broke.

I was reading a book this weekend at B. Dalton about the M1 (street version). It said the redline was 6700. However the site below lists it as 7000.
I loved this car, even have a poster of it from back then.
