non-Chevelle owner with a 454 question.

Okay, over at my usually forum, www.dsmtuners.com there was a thread about your favorite classic muscle car. Well, anyways some guy said a Chevelle SS. Well, I mentioned my mother had a Chevelle SS 454. Another dude told me there was no 69' Chevelle(where he got that I said it was a 69' is beyond me) with a 454. The 454 wasn't introduced until 70' he told me. Well, I asked him if there was a 454 in Chevelles in 1970. He never responded back.
So what i'm asking was there a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 or was my mother wrong. She wasn't very car knowlegable so I won't take offense if she was.

First, He is correct there was no 1969 Chevelle SS 454.

And Second, The 454 was first introduced in 1970. And was an Option in the Chevelle as the LS5 (360hp), LS6 (450hp).

Its very possible your mother owned a SS 454 Chevelle. There were 53,000 1970 Chevelles made.

Was also an option in the 1970 El Camino. I had to have been hard to keep tires on the back of one of those.

Thats good, if you threw some 50lbs sand bags in the back that might have helped a little.
