Going to miss you blokes and our "good (Hint: The Last Samurai) conversations." Second year of school/college starts Aug. 30th, so I might not post as often. I have to pack up and leave soon for my college town and settle inside the new apartment. It was great meeting you guys over the summer, and would've been greater hanging out in real life and receiving tips about riding, talking about other things, and screwing around. Thanks.

blayne, hahahhaah yeah thats the street yeah i think my mums got some leather stuff that i can use, greatly appreciated.. i found a cheapish looking bike helmet too that my mum's bf used in his hay-day of bikes, might be risky but hey, its free so i may as well use it till i save the $$$ for a decent one, or is that a very squidly thing to do? ill check it out thoroughly before using it though cant wait for the gloves and dvd dude! ill be waiting at my letter box for it! hehehehe

i've chucked a sickie today so i'll post it all today.
as for the helmet, it's not recommended to use second hand helmets. two reasons. 1st helmets should be replaced every 5 years due to the materials deteriorating with time and even petrol fumes. 2nd is that they mould to your head. you may have a dent where he had a bulge and then there is a gap. that gap creates a chance for less protection in case of an accident

HJC C-14 helmets are pretty cheap. I'm going for the AC-11 version.

Re: off topic/ place to chat
HJC is SNELL certified... they aren't "crap" helmets... just not $400 a pop like Shoei or Arai. Personally, I believe that Shoei and Arai are just like buying Nike b/c it's Nike... they don't fit me well, and I buy what does... my HJC being a fine example.
As for starting school, I start back on Aug. 30th like Z, so I may disappear a little as well. It's my final semester on campus (January starts my student teaching), so I gotta make it count. Take it easy, everyone. It's been a GREAT couple of months!

Re: off topic/ place to chat
BLU CIVIC has donated money to keep AF a free site for everyone else.
SNELL is a foundation formed for the purpose of conducting "higher level" tests on helmets. the DOT (or whatever the national transportation is in an area) keeps "loose" monitors on helmet makers. SNELL performs another kind of test above and beyond the DOT. All helmets that pass the SNELL test are "safer"... whether they cost $400 or $200. My AC-11 is SNELL-M2000 rated, which was the most recent SNELL rating at the time of purchase last July.
