The European Grand Prix
Only one week since Monaco and we are getting ready for the European GP at the world famous Nurburgring. Hopefuly the teams are ready and everyone has recovered from last weeks carnage. The race this weekend will be very important, especially for Ferrari, Renault and BAR. Ferrari are on their was to securing the drivers and the constructors championship and Renault and BAR will have to start winning races if they are to mount a serious challenge to what has been almost total domination by Michael Schumacher so far this season. The weather forecast is looking good and there is little chance of rain. It should be another good race...

Re: The European Grand Prix
So a usual picture after the first Friday pictures - Davidson and the Ferraris. Wonder how much of it is because Davidson really is that good (2.3 secs faster than Button and 3 secs faster than Sato) and how much is due to the fact taht he doesn't need to conserve his engine for the entire weekend. If it more the former than the latter, that guy deserves a full race drive next season.

I've heard a little said about the guy. Mostly good.
Maybe he'll take Sato's place next year? Not that I have anything against the guy... But if he's that fast... |

Re: The European Grand Prix
I wouldn't be surprised to see a set of Michelin's on the front row, I think they found some new speed a couple races ago.

Quali predictions: MS, JB, RB, JT
On a side-note, there's finally word on the Ralf - Alonso Monaco incident. Telemetry showed Ralf didnt get back on the throttle like Alonso claimed he did. He was stuck in 4th through the tunnel. Interesting new quali format too. Surely an improvement on the current one. |

Re: The European Grand Prix
Preliminary qualifying format to be introduced by Silverstone (July):
* Two 20-minute sessions * Six laps in each session * Grid decided by aggregate of best run from each session * Drivers allowed to refuel after qualifying ends (therefore low fuel in quali) |

Re: The European Grand Prix
That's a step back towards what we used to have in many ways. It does look to be an improvement. Will be a very busy 20 minutes.

Re: The European Grand Prix
It is indeed a move back to the format of a few years ago. Dont like the aggregate idea, but overall an improvement.
