Problems trying to charge electric cars in freezing weather?

I found out from the Internet that people have problems trying to charge electric cars in freezing weather. I'm surprised. Will people go back to gas-powered cars?

I think that the chargers have two modes - fast or slow. I think people were trying to fast-charge their cars.

Batteries below 32 degrees have problems charging because the fluid inside the battery doesn't flow when freezing. Its the same with almost everything that needs charging. Cell phones, electric bikes and other items. If possible they should be charged inside a garage. People that have bought these cars should have either done some research or been told by the dealer especially in cold climates. Its always been the case

And if vehicle batteries are charged in a garage or other enclosed space, there are other considerations that nobody talks about. There are NFPA and OSHA requirement for "charging rooms" which mandate fire suppression systems, forced ventilation, hazardous area rated light fixtures, arc-fault circuit breakers, and all the associated insurance underwriter exceptions and exclusions for those spaces.

Check 46 CFR Part 111 Subpart 111.15, NFPR Part 70E, and your state/local regulations. Then check with your property insurance carried and be prepared to whip out your checkbook.

The electric vehicle industry and "progressive" governments don't want to have those conversations, but if a problem occurs, they'll be happy to cite you.

This section you've cited: 46 CFR Part 111 Subpart 111.15 you realize it refers to water vessels, not land vehicles, right?

Also, the garages referred to in NFPA 70E are commercial parking garages, not people's personal garages at their homes. A parking garage, whether it be at home or in a parking garage is not considered a "charging room." By definition, a battery charging room is defined as a room (or separate area) intended exclusively for charging batteries. It can also be used for the maintenance of said batteries.

I doubt it will happen on such a massive scale. I don't think people are switching to electric cars just because they are cheap.
