Re: security system trouble
OK, the Security light comes on while driving....does anything happen when the light comes on? I don't think the car will die if the light comes on while driving......If you shut it off, and the light is still on, the car won't start.....
First, have all codes read......every module.... 9 out of 10 times, the problem is the lock cylinder, more than anything else... |

Re: security system trouble
I have a 95 LeSebre. The "security light" has come on many times for me while driving. I have replaced the original cylinder once, does same thing with replacement. What I have read is that the system is not reading the correct resistance. the light is to tell the driver the theft system is not functioning. The light stays on for about five minutes.

Re: security system trouble
Lesabers/Park aves of your era use "chip in the key" resistor-- so just bypass it with one of the GM 14 listed resistors that matches the one in your key. If this truly is your issue.
Chances are real good your security light is due to vehicle content security and not "anti-start" security. Are all door latches working properly, door jam switches corroded etc?

Re: security system trouble
Brcidd is correct....it may not be a PassKey problem, but it could be a content security problem.....did you read codes with a scanner/code reader?
The code you are looking for is a "B" code, and most scanners and all code readers only read "P" codes.... |

Re: security system trouble
...And after having one for over a decade, a '95 is going to require an actual bi-directional scanner. A Tech-II or MT-2500, Modis, or Solus can "talk" to the vehicle systems, but not a generic code scanner.
