i would love to know how you dealt with that panel line, in particular, how you got the interior into a closed and puttied body.
i've got a fixed head version of this car that's been crying out for attention but I can't for the life of me see where i can "hide" a join to get a perfect body shell.

I have this kit, and it's easy to build the convertible version by installing the interior pieces from outside/above, and slipped in from the firewall area. The interior parts are molded in soft vinyl. As a convertible it's entirely feasible to assemble the interior inside the finished/puttied/painted body/chassis. As a fixed head car, it would be nearly impossible. I need to figure out how to do build/paint my Airfix/Heller coupe, because I can't accept the lines between the rockers and the body

the 98%, consider it as a tribute to a funny title of thread.

As ZZ mentioned, it's exacly how I did it... it takes some careful putting the parts through tho. There is this piece which is like the tranny tunnel that needs to go through that firewall hole and that has to be fixed to the firewall later that is a bitch to get right... once you put that tunnel in, the firewall just won't fit anymore, so i had to cut and carve that piece a lot... also, the puttied stuffies are not as resistant as plastic, so be careful applying pressure.

And for the closed-top jaggy, i don't know of a real easy solution, i should get me one of those maybe.

I would say open the doors? or build the interior and mask the windows off and paint it then -aircraft modeling style-?

And thanks everybody for the nice comments on my lil british pussycat with her nice rack.

I think it's bling, but in a good way!

Details will follow soon, so I have still a major chance to FUBAR it well!

The body would need to be painted after assembly - this will require very careful masking of the side windows, but it is the only way. The windscreen & rear screen can both be fitted afterwards, which makes the masking easier, and the body fits together well so most of the body prep could be done before assembly with just some minor filling / sanding on the join & then topcoat. I've been investigating this for both the Heller & also RM's 1:8, but the masking is made much more complicated by the opening doors....

BTW, the Heller / Airfix is a really nice kit, & has one of the most accurate exterior shapes that I've seen for an E Type kit
