Bring it back and insist the dealer gets you a remote.

Re: keyless remote.
What model '05 is this? Only certain models come with the key fob with remote start. My '08 GXP has it.
The SPID label located under the spare tire cover in the trunk area has the GM RPO codes for keyless entry and other options. Let me know if you need them.

Re: keyless remote.
Plus the numbers on the back of the key fob have to match the vehicle.Any dealership will tell you which one it is with the VIN on hand.

Re: keyless remote.
Send me a Private Message with your VIN number and we can check to see if your Grand Prix should have the remote keyless entry feature.

Re: keyless remote.
I got him squared away Bob. His car came with just standard remote start. It's kinda odd, because he has no option codes for it, but it shows a receiver and transmitter for his VIN.

Re: keyless remote.
Thanks Rich. So just standard ignition with no remote start option.
On the factory remote start feature applicable to to '04 and up model Grand Prixs there is more than meets the eye and the system is quite interesting. Obviously a BCM module is needed that supports the feature along with other hardware and most likely an enhanced DIC since all keyless entry and remote start functions are displayed on the DIC. At least that is what my GXP has. Big improvement over the previous generation.

Re: keyless remote.
Don't look too far because you cannot program the key fob yourself. A GM Tech II scan tool is required which means a visit to a GM dealership. Charge could range from $20 - $80 or free depending on your service history with the dealership.

Re: keyless remote.
Nope! For example we have the programming instructions posted for the '05 - '08 GXP model but it doesn't do any good without a GM Tech II scan tool. See link below. '04 and up - base, GT and GTP/Comp G are the same.
