Mercedes A160 - DC fan - Revell - 1/24
I've been struggling lately with some projects, paints, clear, decals ... so time to return to the basics of modeling, therefore this will be out of the box with no major modifs.
I decided to give the A160 a go and use it as a test case for Zero Paints. As I was not succesfull with them on a previous build, I wanted to have another go. Should it fail again, then it's just a cheap Revell kit. So off I went. This time I had no major issues and all, primer, base coat and 2k clear went on very beautifull. Once dry, I decided to carbonise the sun roof parts and the bigger areas around the windows. As silver is only silver and the A160 has relatively high side panels, I wanted to break that a little. A quick look in the spare decals showed I had some interesting left-overs. Enough to make it a "A160 owned by a DC fan"... This is how it looks now. |

Neat use of the Mclaren decals to 'spice it up' - the side stripe looks like it was made for this model

Re: Mercedes A160 - DC fan - Revell - 1/24
Thanks! and here are the images from the interior, also completed during last weekend. First I was thinking of doing it all black, but then I thought things would be very dark inside once finished, and most of the details would get lost, so I decided to go for the lighter one and followed the instructions from Revell. Although I'm not particularly that good at brush painting for some details, the result is sort of ok.

"You so silly Ray" I know it's a revell kit I did not go back an edit my Question. It is a Revell of Germany, I just don't know what the stock numbers are to look up the kit.
Oh an the word in my Question was [Interior].

Great looking model, very sharp. Your seats are perfect, I really like that pattern.

Re: Mercedes A160 - DC fan - Revell - 1/24
Thanks!!
Meanwhile, the front grille as well as the headlamps have been finished with chroom Bare Metal Foil. But while I was inserting the front grille, a little paint came off (see blue arrow). In order to make sure that the same thing would not happen while fixing the head lamps, I dry-fitted them at the same time. No Problem here. Also the chassis is completed. Painted it enamel matt black and wheathered it using the sets from Tamiya. As Revell makes us do with a 2-part chassis, part chassis, part interior, I was a little worried regarding possible fittment issues. And that feeling was justified... so, super glue and other measures were needed to make sure it all comes together nicely. Just to make sure the A160 would be standing on it's 4 feet, I quickly dry-fitted (using some spare wheels). This shows that it will be tricky to get everything together nicely. We'll see. The rims have been de-chromed and are painted TS-30. While they are drying I sanded the tyres and wheathered them, again using the Tamiya sets. There ain't that much left now. |
