Is There A Way To Clear Codes On A 96 Buick Regal Without A Scanner. Try Taking Fuse Out And Disconecting The Postive Battery Lead, But No Luck?

Remove POSITIVE battery cable. Turn ignition key to start position and hold there for at least 1 minute. Of course, all dash lights will be off and it will not start. Turn to off, however key will not go to off position and should be stuck due to no power. Re-connect POSITIVE battery cable. Relays will chatter. Turn key forward but not to start and then off. Key should remove now. Re-insert key and start engine and all DTC error codes should be clear to include SES/CEL light if it was on. Its worth a try and works on just about all late model GM cars. It works for me and on all 3 "W" bodies I have. But I do have a good scanner/code reader just in case.
