And here's the Rx-7 hood up close:

When light isn't directely on top of it, it became black but when the light hit it right, the silver with the smoke on it reflect and the patern appear. In 1/24, it look pretty convincing.

Ps... Bousquet... look pretty familiar? Comming from Québec?

Really? I'll keep in mind to tell my bike that it must change all its C/F parts to black/black as opposed to black/pewter.
I'll tell it a guy from Ithaca knows better.....

I apologise for offending, I just don't get why you're so adamant on having black over black paint.

BTW, see if you can find Reedsville, PA on a map, betcha Ithaca looks like a major city in comparison, blink when driving by this town and you'll miss it completely!

Nope, I didn't... a base of black (don't need to be flat), install the mesh, shoot silver over it at very low pressure (10psi), let dry. Then you release the mesh and shoot smoke all over it the way you do for a clear on a body... first mist then wet. If it's done properly, it end here if not, you can polish but smoke is like a clear with a little pigment and became pretty gloss when dry. So the polishing process is not always necessary.

The result is cool but a little more brown than the real thing. Maybe I'll try other finishing techniques than the smoke because that the way the brown is insert. Maybe I'll do my own smoke with different paint (more grey than brown)... it's in progress.

Ps, Bousquet is a common name here. Had a girlfriend with that name... pretty sexy ! But my ex neighbor was a Bousquet too... pretty ugly. So it's common but dosen't mean anything.
