Dtc41
Hello
The engine on my 1992 (3.8) runs erratically and misfires when accelerating, the car gets an alarm DTC 41 sometimes and I have changed the things the manual states that may be wrong (PCM in this case according to the measurements), so what else can you check? I have replaced PCM, spark plugs, ignition cables, ECM, CPS, etc .... |

On my trouble code list, the code 41 stands for camshaft position sensor. The problem for this one maybe the sensor it self, or the ground (mass) connection, the brown wire, that is going from the sensor to the ICM bracket. Check the wires for good connection, clean any rust/oxidation on the wires. The most of issues I had on mine were the bad oxidated/rusted connections. Hope this helps.

Re: Dtc41
Some of these CMP sensors are magnetic, and eventually accumulate enough metal material on the face to effectively null out any signal.

Re: Dtc41
Hello!
Thanks both for your answers, I have changed many electronic things but the engine behaves in the same way so it's probably not metal debrese, what I have not done is changing the small magnet that sits on the flywheel when it probably assembles from the backside. I have not checked all the wires (there are a fantastic number of wires), but I will see if the brown one has good contact, I have a new ICM contact I can solder, that old one was looking tired. It is almost 30 years old and then I do not have to pay road tax for it in Sweden, so I want to keep the car. |
