Re: blower motor wont shut off
Check the blower high speed relay. It receives power from the battery, not the ignition switch.

Re: blower motor wont shut off
I have the same problem with the same year van. I can't see how to get at the relay and the resistor pack. I see where the six wire connecter is behind the coolant resevoir. Do I need to take off the plastic shroud? Also, none of the parts stores around here have the blower resistor.

Re: blower motor wont shut off
nope you just have have to remove the wiper resivior take out the two black fasteners,,,, then pull up on the resivior so you can get the one hose off and the two plugs for the wiper washer motors then lift it out......and you can see there are two small bolts ,,,one on each side of that plug un plug it and un bolt it and it comes right out

Re: blower motor wont shut off
I ordered a blower motor resitor from a company online. It came today and it looks different then the one I have. It looks like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-B...spagenameZWDVW The one I have is a flat circuit board with a few horseshoe shaped metal things that came loose when i touched them. The one they sent me won't fit in the slot either. The acdelco part number says 15-80550 Where did you get your replacement part and do you know the correct number? Thanks. |

Re: blower motor wont shut off
Could it be the resistor was redesigned? When I plug in the new part the problem is still the same. The blower does not work and I hear the resistor clicking when turning the fan button between the high position and the next to high position. The last few weeks the blower would work only on high. Then it would only work on high intermittently...then the blower would only come on if I hit a bump...now nothing.

Re: blower motor wont shut off
i was saying the pack you have is exactly like the one i just got and it was the problem ,,,but to make it fit you have to cut off the lil plastic tabs i think there were four...and the relay is on the drivers side right above the battery in the black box

Re: blower motor wont shut off
Ok the resistor pack I replaced solved the problem of the fan only blowing on high. The only reason I know this is the fan kicked in this morning and I was able to adjust the fan speed just fine, for the first time in months. However the fan still kicks on or off by itself....mostly is stays off. I'm confused where the blower relay is. I lost the cover for my fuse box so I'm not certain which one it is. I also read somewhere that the relay for 97 and up chevy astro vans are on the passenger side firewall. Does anyone know the part number or exact location?

Re: blower motor wont shut off
Your new resistors probably looked like this then?
