Question And you think you're Hardcore?

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...toryID=3685112

Quote:
STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - An Icelandic fishing captain, known as "the Iceman" for his tough character, grabbed a 660-pound shark with his bare hands as it swam in shallow water toward his crew, a witness said Thursday.
The skipper of the trawler "Erik the Red" was on a beach in Kuummiit, east Greenland, watching his crew processing a catch when he saw the shark swimming toward the fish blood and guts -- and his men. Captain Sigurdur Petursson, known to locals as "the Iceman," ran into the shallow water and grabbed the shark by its tail. He dragged it off to dry land and killed it with his knife. "He caught it just with his hands. There was a lot of blood in the sea and the shark came in and he thought it was dangerous," Frede Kilime, a hunter and fisherman who watched from the beach, told Reuters by phone from Greenland. Icelandic author and journalist Reynir Traustason, who knows the trawler captain, said the act was typical of the man. "He's called 'the Iceman' because he isn't scared of anything," he said. "I know the people in that part of the world. They are really tough."

Every report I read on that incident the shark gets bigger, first time it was a 300lbs shark, then it was 450lbs, now it's up to 660lbs?

I think it's a case of your classic fishing story.

Even if it was only 300 lbs, would you wade in after it?

You're missing the point, every time the story is published, the shark has put on weight.....in this one the shark's weight is up to 1322lbs!!

http://www.nationalpost.com/world/st...1-C215F6BD87B4

Initially, the story was believable, but with the differences in weight from one story to the next, I am starting to think this is the thing of urban legend....

BTW, I wouldn't wade in and pull the shark out, but I have landed the occasional shark when surf fishing.

Re: And you think you're Hardcore?

I've killed an 8-ft-long shark before with a spear gun...from underneath.

Still not as ballsy as this guy, though.

It sounds like the Canadian article just transposed the 600lb account into 600kilos instead of converting...
