Re: how many miles on orig motor and trans
Just about to roll 230,000km (142,000mi) on my 2000. 4.3L 5-speed manual. No work what so ever to the clutch, trans or engine. Still runs like a brand new truck!

Re: how many miles on orig motor and trans
On my 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe 2 door Z71 I am at 160K (MILES) with the Original strong running 5.7L Vortech motor and my original tranny went out at about 155k. I replaced with a new GM Tranny so it will be there proble until 190K+. The T-case was rebuilt at 114k and before that at 80k. I guess they didn't get it right the first time around.

Re: how many miles on orig motor and trans
P.S
This poll isn't that great it terms of data reporting considering it counts trucks under 100k. It gives the impression that most trucks had a motor and/or Tranny failure at or before 100k. This poll should be re-done and only allow people that kept there truck to 200k to vote. |

Re: how many miles on orig motor and trans

Re: how many miles on orig motor and trans
Just bought a used 1999 Silverado 4x2 Auto with 99,000 miles. Truck is very tight. Not like my 97 s10, which I will be selling. Bought Silverado from original owner. He kept very good records.I hope to run this truck to 200000 miles.

Re: how many miles on orig motor and trans
Even thought I purchased the Truck used from a repo auction, it's still going strong. My step father checked it before I bid on it and couldn't see any evidence it had major work on it.

Re: how many miles on orig motor and trans
Well I've got just over 212,000 on both motor and tranny.Had all the common things like abs sensors, parking brake, new fuel pump, slip yoke clunk, but other than that,it's been an excellent running truck, and I'm a contractor so it works, tows snowmobiles and 4 wheelers and a mini-excavator.Always used valvoline dura -blend oil,and replaced fluids with synthetics.I tried Mobil 1 but it was a quart low even before time for oil change, and have never been more than half a quart with valvoline.5.3 is an excellent engine. I have a Hypertech tune in it which gives me a few more miles to gallon on premium gas and a k&N filter.2000 ext cab silverado LS 1500.

Re: how many miles on orig motor and trans
It's not a Silverado, but it is a GM!
2002 Chevrolet Astro: original 4.3L engine, (Oil & filter every 4,000 & never been apart) original 4L60E transmission, (fluid & filter every 30,000) original rear axle, (fluid change every 50,000) 320,000 MILES (not Km). Oh yes, it's on a very strict maintenance schedule and every squeak and rattle is taken care of ASAP. It sees 350 miles a day, 5 days a week. Take care of 'em, they last.
