Re: Who thinks they can pull a drawing like this off?
if you read my posts carefully, you will see that the first time I said anyone can do it I was refering to importing a well shot photogrqaph and directly tracing it in photoshop or whatever to get a good likeness in their drawing. This is not about drawing "free".
and where have I ever dismissed the skill involved in creating an image in a digital medium? Bwahahaha! Whatever are you talking about? I am not talking about drawing free. My whole argument is aimed at destroying your misinformed notion that anybody can paint a photo realistic car in photoshop or painter. Is it not? Correct me if I am wrong. DM I still want you to paint a photorealistic car in photoshop for me dammit |

Re: Who thinks they can pull a drawing like this off?
I'm not involved really in this lover's spat, but I'm giving my take on it.
You have to have some skill to do anything technical. If you cannot render, you cannot render. If you become proficient in your weapon of choice, it can be anything... and if you're good, you are good. It's that simple. You don't "suck" if you cannot use paint and pencils. If you can kick a$$ in Photoshop to get similar results.... nobody can take that away from you. If you're good you're good. If the final image is cool... then it's just what it is. I've seen crap traditional medium work and shocking digital work. And vice versa. |

Well if you can't use the tools, you cannot render anything in any medium. If you're not proficient at Photoshop, you cannot use it to great effect.
Not just anybody can pick something up and execute it's use as an expert. That's not possible. Even Mozart had to figure out the piano (albeit quickly!). |

As I said, I am not the best person to use as the judge on my position as I am not entirely unfamiliar with Photoshop or similar. To really test it, you'd need someone who cannot draw with physical media and let him have a go on it. In any case, as I said before, I'm going to be out of the country from this Thursday until 22nd. I'll see what I can do when i get back.

and i'm getting busy again, so no fun stuff for me till the clients are happy but of course since it's so easy to just hit that 'realistic automotive rendering button' in Photoshop, I should be able to whip something up in mere minutes... |
