Post Super Stallion Question...

Hey everyone. Well, with seeing the completion of 73SuperDutys' SuperStallion: Black Sunshine, I decided to pull mine out the closet, dust it off and open it up. I really musn't have noticed the decals before, but it comes with these carbon fiber (or kevlar) decals that go on the widebody kit. Also, the tires are so not wide. I like the rims in the kit, is there a way to get some wider tires on without deep dishing? Also, I found this funny, there's decals for the cross drilled brakes. 2sets actually, one for inside, other for out. Now it has 4 molding marks that need to be sanded off with the entire body of 1000, and 1500 grits paper, and here's where I've stumped myself. My original plan was to do it flat black like SuperDuty s, but I don't want to copy him (that and my 66 malibu SS is flat black, and my Enzo is flat black.) so here's my choices:

1.) Modern style up-to-date Elanore paint job with NOS plummed

2.) Mica blue with gunmetal or flat black centered wheels

3.) Gloss black with supllied blue and green graphics

4.) Suggestions??

Sorry, I know this goes in a poll, but my computer is seriously acting up right now, and I don't think it would make it to being able to process the information for the poll, so I'll just click post now.

BTW, If sk8_in-NY reads this, where'd you get your 3'' exhaust tips for the pearl white cobra??

Re: Super Stallion Question...

I'll tell you right now that the drilled disc decals don't work! I tried applying them and after three of them not working, that was enough.
Yup, wheels and tires are kinda small, but once the kit goes together they look right.I tried some other rims and they just looked way to big on there.
Dude, It wouldn't bother me a bit if you painted your's flat black. Although we all like diversity, I would love to see it rendered under your impression.
I know that I wasn't the only guy who had thought of this.
Good Luck!
Chris

I can't remember the exact size of the tube, But it was the same, or a tad bit bigger then the ITR exhaust tip.

Re: Re: Super Stallion Question...

I'm leaning towards the Mica blue, reason being, I got a fresh can yesterday, and it's been soo long since I've used Tamiya(other than glos clear and gloss black). I look at my testors, and duplicolor orange peel (even with proper prep and painting techniques). And I look at the 2-3 tamiya painted cars even with noo primer, and the paint is soo smooth. I'll probably be adding the flat black centers, and maybe some CF action, I just need a good color that makes the cf stand out.

As far as the exhaust tips go, I've built 3 integras (2 trashed, so I'll be taking there tips, hope it isn't too ricey.

Chris, thanks, but, I don't want to steal your idea, maybe the 03 cobra will be home to some fresh tamiya matt black. and red head lamps. Will start a thread soon, going spray all my silver bits now, after I modify my exhaust of course.

Thanks for the input guys, oh yeah, the motor is a 351 small block, it has larger heads to represent the lightnings' motor, but my 03 cobra project will have a lightning motor, thanks to my freind adam, who's putting a funny car motor in his.

Later.

Re: Super Stallion Question...

Veyron.....that is fine! Love the wheels. The spoiler is okay, I prefer the smooth ducktale. Got any ass shots of it? Looks great.

I was sorting out the ITR metal tips, the wont fit unless I dremel out some of the rear clip, but no body mods will be done here. I decided on mica blue as the color, and hopefully, my lhs will have some tamiya gunmetal, since I really wanted this puppy gunmetal, but if they have the bottles, I'll get it and do the centers gunmetal as planned.

thanks for all your input, it's relaly appreciated.

Re: Re: Super Stallion Question...

that's cool. now, tell me about the rims, how'd you make them? or who makes em? where can I get em, or what do I need to make em? I was thinking of some pegsus wheels, like Hawk312 used on his Elanore, I believe.

Re: Super Stallion Question...

The wheels are from a Fujimi kit, don't remember which one, and my friend machined aluminum rings for them.

If you want a good chassis put the '99 Cobra chassis under it like I did, you just have to shorten it a little at the back.

Here's mine. I can tell you not to bother with the kit decals. I tried one or two of the CF ones, and they wouldn't conform to the curvature AT ALL because they're so thick. So instead, I shot it with Tamiya Light Gunmetal and Black.

Re: Super Stallion Question...

Thanks everyone. Phil, I'm still going to give the CF a shot, but it'll be a while. I decided to prime the car, and it is getting it's second mist of mica blue in a minute or two.
