Cool Moderators please!!!!

Will anyone please listen to me??

I really like this forum and want to participate here, but I have to go through HELL to login. I've followed all the steps regarding clearing cookies and whatnot from my browser, and I've e-mailed the webmaster with my problem, all to no avail.

Can someone on here PLEASE suggest what else may be wrong? I don't want to have to take my car-talk someplace else like "e-how" who don't know "scrub" about cars!

Your site and Amazon are the only two sites I have this trouble with, and yes - I AM typing my passwords correctly, so let's get that out of the way now.

Thanks!

Re: Moderators please!!!!

Which browser are you using? Try a different browser and/or update your copy.
I have found that older versions of both IE and Firefox are a bit funky with certain sites, especially if they are running on older computers.

I'm using IE8.x - installed as part of a Vista update a month ago.

Re: Moderators please!!!!

Really easy check is to see if it happens on another computer. If it does, then there is something possibly wrong with your account. If it doesn't, then there is something causing script to get jumbled on this site for you. Sometimes the activeX and java stuff conflicts with some software that is running on your computer.

Another dumb idea is to temporarily disable your firewall and/or anti-virus and see if the trouble continues.

But, TS has chimed in. He is the master fixer.

Cool Re: Moderators please!!!!

UPDATE

Alright, this is wee-odd! When I go to the A-F home/front page, whatever, the fields in the upper RH corner show that I'm not logged in. When I pick a specific forum, such as a car Make, or here in Eng/Tech, I see my username and private message, etc. count.

So I suspects me maybe trying to login over myself - that is - login when I'm already in!

Re: Moderators please!!!!

I've noticed that too in the past couple of weeks. I use 3 different computers to access AF at any given time, and I believe only one out of the three does this.
