Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

You've got to be pleased with how that's looking - worth all the effort, right? I always find bending exhaust pipes to be a pain, although it's become easier with each project - I use clear flexible tubing for the pipe over a wire core which I can bend to shape. Using styrene tubing must add to the fun-factor, though!

I don't suppose you know the chap in Monaco with the 037 in his private collection, given your location?

Also, in your black and white photos at the beginning of your own
thread...is that a young Jean Todt looking into the engine bay? Never knew he was that 'hands on' with rally cars!!!

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

still on the exhaust
But getting there.
Started with a paper template.

Than made 2 ends and 2 middles

Drilled together to get the hole in the same place.

Put together

Sheet with rod on for the ends to go against.

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

Hello
Built the sides to the frame so I could build the fuel tanks.

I was having problems building the tanks out of plastic so made them from modelling clay.

Tried to make them look like bagged tanks.
Need a bit more work.

Nice idea for the tanks!

Funnily, I got stuck on the fuel tanks on my 1/24 037 and that's where it's still sitting. Now you've gone and solved that problem for me, 1000% thank you's!

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

Still bit of work to do on fuel tanks.

Also been working on the oil tank.

Still have to get a cap and make the dip stick.

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

Bit more on the oli and fuel tanks.

For the bagged tanks used an old curtain.

the rough bits will be trimmed off and you will not see the backs away.

Bit more work then I can paint them.

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

You know, I'm sure new curtains would work even better than old ones...! Seriously though, I think these are going to look really good - will be interesting to see them once they're painted. The oil tank is also a pleasure - there's some funky shapes going on with this project!
