Re: Riding season soon

That did leave a little bit of a mark, but funny is funny. I don't take myself to seriously, so even if I'm the one getting pwn3d, I still appreciate good humor!

Re: Riding season soon

I've seen your tassels mate. You can keep them for Mardi Gras!

I'll happily wear my full race leathers.

I have the black riding jeans so all i really need is the black helmet (Shoei matt black) and a good jacket. I have seen a Dainese which is retro black styled and would suit a harley. Might need to look into boots other than the Sidi race rep I usually ride in.

Re: Riding season soon

I need to get a new "tassel free" pic of my bike to put in my signature, those were off as soon as I had a chance, so

If you're looking for cruiser style boots, Harley brand boots are actually quite comfortable. I bought a pair off e-bay, not because they were Harley, but because they were dirt cheap ($30) and I love them. Steel toed, good grip, they breathe and they're all day comfortable.

Steel caps?!?!?!?!

Part of our rider training is a photo of a guy minus his toes after coming off in steel caps. The shoe bent back and cut them clean off.

yeah we were advised not to use steel toed boots in my MSF course for the same reason.

Re: Riding season soon

Hmm, never thought of that scenario (OUCH!!), but I'm thinking that if the impact was hard enough to smash his boot that far, his foot would have been hamburger anyway!

Re: Riding season soon

Yes but they didn't simulate the cap being forced back snapping the toes and cutting them off, just impact on the shoe.

Re: Riding season soon

I got to sneak in a ride yesterday Speed. It was 63 and beautiful here, but that's it for a while. We'll be back to highs in the 30's/low 40's for all next week. Give my your cell and I'll send you a sound clip of mine.....

Re: Riding season soon

LOL Rich. I totally earned that one. I have had bikes riding past my place for a few weeks now, but the last week or so has been exceptionally nice.

I figure it this way: When the weather is nice I get 2 choices... I can ride or I can go for a run. I have only 3 weeks to get myself into bikini shape, so running is definitely the better choice.

Re: Riding season soon

It was nice the beginning of last week. I went down to abq to pick up a new bike on thursdy.(sold the SV). My plan was to ride the new zx10 back on the 3 hr trip and my friend follow behind me. The bike i bought was used and had a bald front tire. so i replaced it before we set out home.as soon as we get on the interstate the wind picked up to about 30mph with 50mph gusts. the clouds came in and there was dust everyone. that first 60 miles i didnt get above 50mph. everytime i was hit with a gust of wind that new front tire felt like it was going to slide out from underneath me. scariest feeling ever.need less to say the 3hr trip took 4 and 1/2 hrs. I got it home safely though, but unfortunatley it has been windy and rainy the past couple of day and havent got it out much since.

Re: Riding season soon

I can't believe you sold your SV copper, why did you go with a ZX-10? Riding in strong cross winds is never any fun, especially in dusty conditions. Glad to hear you got her home safely.

Speed, ride the bike to the park and then run, you silly kid. That way you can have your cake and eat it too! I've also decided to get myself back into shape and start lifting and riding my mountain bike again, although no bikini's here as that would be really scary!!
