305 chevy engine problem

I have already changed the valve seals on my engine. And my engine keeps smoking. Any suggestions to what else the problem could be on why it is still smoking? I am not loosing any engine compression. Please somebody help!

Oil smoke will be a whitish-bluish color. If you're trying to T-shoot the source of the consumption, general rules indicate:

If the smoke occurs when you first start the engine, then clears up, that's an indication of leaky valve guide seals. If it smokes when it starts up, and when you're decelerating, that's an indication of worn guides. If you smell smoke when you're cruising or decelerating, but you don't see any, that could be a leaking intake manifold gasket (drawing oil in from the lifter valley).

If the smoke occurs when you accelerate, but generally does not occur on first startup, or it does but does not stop, that's an indication of worn piston rings. It could also be an indication of internal engine damage (broken or cracked piston, cylinder wall scoring, etc).

If the smoke is grayish to grayish black, to pure black, that's an indication of a rich fuel condition.

If the smoke is white, it could be a bad vacuum modulator (TH350/400 only) or engine coolant (cracked block, blown head gasket, warped head, cracked head, etc).

Ok...the smoke coming out of the exhaust is whitish blue. It smokes when i start it ...then tapers off but still lightly smokes. Also smokes really bad when accelerating after a dead stop then tapers off again but still lightly smoking. Perhaps thats a little more specific. Any more suggestions? Thanks for your info. I'll take any help I can get!

From that, I gather it's either improperly installed guides/keepers, worn rings or a stuck open PCV valve (which would be nice)

Egr valve or PVC my 84 Monte smoked so bad it wasn't guide seals like we thought.
