Played with a Civic Si HB tonight.
So a buddy's brother of mine goes to my Kung Fu class now, and I had heard recently that he got a new car. Just out of curiosity I said "Hey Jamie, Nick said you got a new car... what is it?"
"Civic Si..." "The blue one I've seen?" "Nah, black HB" "oh ok" Didnt talk to him the rest of the night. I'm driving home afterwards and I see a car behind me flashing its lights the whole way home and I look in my side view mirror (rear view is blurry) and I see Jamies big fucking H on the front and even though my cars shite, I know the road home pretty well and im guessing he does so I figured we'd play a bit. Well it didn't last long because there were trucks ahead of us. Comes a big straight stretch and I knew he was gonna try something so I floored it when I saw him switching to the other lane (im auto, hes stick). He didnt creep up very fast at first but then his Vtec kicked in and he went by me like I was standing still, I tried catching up till I hit about 90 or so but gave up because we were getting close to the trucks (I had slowed a bit to maybe give us some room to play). Not much of a race because I didnt stand a chance, but it was fun nonetheless. |

Nice death. Most of the races I've heard involve Civic SI's on the losing end of the race. I think 160 hp stock just doesn't cut it anymore.

well when im barely pushin 95 to the wheels, and he's an experienced driver, I didnt stand a chance. I just think it was kinda fun.
They only have 160 hp? Someone told me they had the rsx 200hp engine... but either way, I couldnt have kept up. Maybe if I had the LS ... |

The new Si is equipped with a K20 motor which is rated at 160HP and very little toque. The 200HP k20 rsx equiped vehicle is the Japanese Civic Type R which is much faster.
My opinions on the new si's, honda pretty much came out with a slower Si then it's 99-00 models.Plus i think the 99-00 models looked nice then this euro style hatch.Get any stock 99SI and pit it against the new Si, you will see the newer Si slowly lose ground, basically because they have less torque then the older model. |

Re: Played with a Civic Si HB tonight.
Basically, you just need a turbo on your six, or an LS. BTW, nice to see a fellow sixer. Too bad you couldnt have smoked him.

Re: Played with a Civic Si HB tonight.
I've actually considered getting the front clip off a manual LS and switching it out. I have free labor with my personal mechanic (dad) so it'd only cost me the front clip. Yeah... I need the front end too. But I dunno we'll see how that goes.

Re: Played with a Civic Si HB tonight.
As stated previously the new Civic Si is kinda slow. I think it's heft holds it back some. It's a shame cause I love the exterior styling, although that shifter is definitely in the wrong area, I don't care what car and driver says.

Re: Played with a Civic Si HB tonight.
Well you definitely wouldn't be slower if you put in a MX6 turbo motor :d

Re: Played with a Civic Si HB tonight.
I think with the effort it'll take for that, it'd just be easier to get a GS-T or GSX.
