repair rear center brake light=-
1998 lumina, 3.1, about 260,000 miles on it. runs like a top.
but rear center high brake light bulbs burn out quickly. has anyone replaced the entire fixture with something like a trailer light, etc. does auto zone, etc. sell the socket the bulbs screw in to? one blub has two wires and the other blub has three wires. thanks for any advice. |

Re: repair rear center brake light=-
Maybe you have the wrong bulbs......there should only be one filament in each bulb....
The sockets, if needed should be available in any auto parts store.... |

Re: repair rear center brake light=-
Even that does not make sense....
There should be one white wire into each bulb(power), and one black wire out of each bulb(ground).....if there is a third wire, that may be your problem...it should not be there....maybe something someone added..... |

One of the wires probably jumpers from one lamp socket to the other. There is only one white wire to the assembly:
