Hi! And welcome

The Tamiya Beetle is a good starter's kit because of its simple suspension and build. Check the FAQ that jay made at the top of the forum, it should answer all your questions (for now at least ).

Hi 2Quick...

I know the FAQ says Tamiya kits are the best, and they rightfully are.

But may I suggest u try ur modeling skills on a crap Revell or Monogram kit first? Get the cheapest Revell kit u could get hold of, go to Wal-Mart and look for $4.99 kits. Like, don't even bother trying to make ur first kit look good, it never will unless u're some miracle modeler.

Use the body to try out all the different techniques like spraying, sanding, polishing, decals.... use it for testing, and when u feel comfortable with ur modeling skills, try ur hand at some simple Tamiy kits like the Honda Fit or Mini Cooper or somethin'

If u start off with expensive Tamiya kits, several years down the road, u'll look back and weap and feel sorry...

hey, welcome

the hot kit right now is the Acura Integra Type R (ITR), there seems to be a lot of us building it. It's a fun, simple, very nice kit to build. It's made by Revell, you might want to try that one.

And the stands that the cars are on when being painted, believe it or not are usually coat hangers.

Welcome.

I think any curbside (no engine) kit by Tamiya is fine for a beginner coz there are no fitment problems to worry about. Im not a fan of the 'simplistic' design for the WRX, as having a complete molded chasis is not as easy to paint as separte parts - it requires a steady hand or tricky masking to get it looking good. The 350z has this type of chassis too. I think the s2000 is a good one to go for as well as the new Celica which fit together so well and look fantastic.
