Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599
Many thanks guys!
Was raining this few days, so i work on the CF decal instead the white circle on the Manettino dial is an 'O' decal from the word "shell pOwer" just trim a bit wrapping the CF decal on this is quite frustating CF on central console is patch up with several small pieces i made mistake without splitting it into 3 pieces on this one, end up a lot of wrinkles on the centre which extremely difficult to flatten this one is made of one piece, but still very time consuming to get it conform to the surface also i tried to replicate the suede effect which i mix using mr surfacer 1200 + flat black at 1:10 ratio, spray mist at long range, looks ok |

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599
quite busy recently, so not much progress
the last thing i want to make sure is the stance, i had change the ride height few times, 1 time i lowered 2mm at the front & rear, realise it is too much, i reduce it to 1mm at both front & rear, then i made a silly mistake by glueing the left rear to the right rear i think the rear wheel will look better in stock height, because the 20" wheel looks slightly smaller compare to Novitec's 21" wheel and lots of cursing working with the HD resin wheel CF parts clear coated, will need another coat before compound and the body is painted 3 mist coat, mixture of mr color GX white + Mr color super white iv at 3:7 ratio now it look matte because i've wetsand with 2000 all over |

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599
thanks lunchotem
More updates: Masked the steering with tamiya masking tape using very fine tweezer, then spray semigloss mixture of dark gray Then I masked again using Mr Masking Sol R Easy to use, just use a brush and brush over Then mist spray flat black mix with surfacer to get the suede texture, Masking Sol R are easy to apply but hard to remove because you can easily chipped the paint underneath if not careful remove I used Hobby Design Ferrari decal instead of the kit decal, IMO it look more opaque Paint metallic red on 0.9mm Top Studio Round rivet for the start button Cut some red sprue and paint metallic red for the dial switch Done! Better pics under sunlight |

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599
Your building skills and attention to details are amazing. The seats and that steering wheel are works of art.

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599
thanks guys,
Finish the brakes, i tried paint the ceramic brake, but doesn't look nice, so i remove them Paint the exhaust tip semigloss like the Novitec version, and test fit..also smoke the tailights Polish the CF at the back of the seat, notice the left is polished, which you can see the wording's reflection while the right is not yet polish Then i masked, spray semigloss dark gray, mask again and spray the suede texture, but some how after removing the masking i chipped some paint and also realise the suede is too light, so i'll need to touch up again and repaint the suede with darker tone |

Re: Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599
thanks micha
Updates on the body: Now i know why so many people hate painting WHITE, especially body in red plastic and chassis black I've spray 3 mist coat, wetsand and another 4 wet coat (although i thinned down the paint a lot) with wetsanding between each coat, simply because white is hard to get an even coverage, and i decided not to add clear coat because the paint is already thicker than i expected...and this result few problems to me: 1) thick paint, some detail become faint, mainly the door handle and some fine panel line, I had to rescribe them, sand and mist coat 2) all parts don't fit nicely because of the thicker paint, luckily i test fit them after the 1st wetcoat, all parts need to be slighty sand/trim to fit and this lead to problem no 3 3) my mistake by leaving the C pillar on the body overnight after test fit, although the paint is dried but not fully cured, the C pillars paint adhere to the body and while removing it, it chipped a chunk of paint, and primer until i can see the red plastic...i'm extremely pissed, i've to putty, sand, prime, paint, sand, paint... sorry no progress pics because so stress although in the end i finally fixed that chipped part (and that was 5 hours wasted) |
