1/12 Datsun 240Z
Hello, your friendly neighborhood Spideyman here.
![]() Ok, so I have been holding out to post this thread till after I had finished my engine for this build, however I can no longer wait to share. I know, I know Im just giving into weakness and temptation..... ![]() But I figured one tiny little sneak peak wouldnt be too bad.......right? ![]() Now before anyone says anything, I am using the two kits to build one car. The problem is that there are parts from both kits that I want to use to build the perfect Z (in my eyes). More specifically, I have owned two 1:1 Z's in the past, and this build will become what I only wished I could have done to my real Z's. I am considering this build as what will be the "Crown Jewel" of my work and collection. So I am not sure how long it will take to finish, since I have a lot of detailing, scratch build, and modifying to do, but I will try my best. None the less, I will be taking my time with this since there is a lot of sentimental value in this, as well as the desire to do the best work that I can. My hopes are to reach the level of what Greg (Stump) has set SO high to reach with his on going build. ![]() So wish me luck as I set off in my epic build and lets hope for the best. ![]() Some pictures of the kit..... ![]() ![]() ![]() And what's a 12th scale Z with out a specially made set of Stumpanabes or..... um Watastumpies!!! ![]() ![]() A quick mock up.... ![]() ![]() ![]() And hopefully I can squeeze those big wheels in! ![]() ![]() Ok, so on to that teaser that I was telling you all about..... ![]() ![]() ![]() So there you have it. I know its not much, I have been working on it pretty hard. I have a lot of detailing and scratch building already in it and still have a bit more to go. ![]() Once I finish it up I will post a full update and details of everything that I have done. Thanks and I hope you enjoyed, ![]()

Hey Spidey what color are you going with. I just saw one one of these in 1:1 that was a matte black/dark gray with CF hood and accents that looked awesome. BTW I love the purple oils cap and air breather.

Re: 1/12 Datsun 240Z
@cjsbosox: Thanks, I will actually be going with a bright yellow for the body color.
![]() @Greg: Yeah well I figured that I would share on here as well once I had something to actually post. Ok boys and girls, Here is another quick little update. ![]() Nothing too exciting to show off, I just managed to get some more details finished up. I do still have some more that I have yet to have finished though. Some of the added details that you might want to keep an eye out for are the electrical connectors for the alternator and distributor (there will be a full wiring harness), Nismo decal on oil fill cap, Fram decal on oil filter......... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quick mock up with the transmission, fan, and oil pan ![]() ![]() A quick in the car shot ![]() And finally, HELP ME! I cant decide on which color to go with.... ![]() Well thats all for now, I know its not much but I havent had much time lately at the bench. ![]()

Re: 1/12 Datsun 240Z
Wow, one of the best motors I've ever seen! Purple anodised would match your oil cap and is a complementary colour to the proposed yellow body colour. That's if you want it to stand out more against the yellow body. Otherwise, blue anodised is in my opinion a nice "highlight" to the detail. Either way it sure is a fantastic looking engine

Re: 1/12 Datsun 240Z
The engine is a jewel, a real masterpiece. I can't tired of looking at it, especially the excellent painting of parts representing different metals. Purple is my favorite colour, but I think it would look good blue to match the alternater bracket. But that's just nitpicking, either choice would look great with this excellent engine.
