97 Nissan Pickup

My son has a 97 Nissan P/U with an airbag. the horn will start blowing and he does not have the button pressed. It will keep this up for a couple of miles. we have taken out the horn fuse. Can you take the button off the steering wheel even though he has an airbag. Or what could cause this to happen.

Re: 97 Nissan Pickup

My '94 was doing the same thing. I found that the wire from the switch was shorting out on a sharp edge of one of the metal brackets in the steering wheel. I don't know the safety info for disarming the airbag in that truck. It MUST be disarmed before you work on the steering wheel, It tends to not be obvious from the outside how to take it apart. The center cover on my steering wheel was held by only one screw though there were four clips that needed to be released as well.
