CV clicking?
Everytime i turn around something on this car goes! Anyway my passenger side cv is clicking in slow 90 degree turns. So might as well do that with the ball joints, Is there anything else that could make a clicking down there, and what else should be changed while the whole front end is apart? I was thinking about new shocks, but i never messed with airbags. There is only air in the back and those seem fine for now. Are those hard to do? I just did new shoes and wheel cylinders out back, that was fun!

Only thing that makes the air shocks different is the fact they have a air line to disconnect, pretty easy, just make sure you pull the fuse for the pump before you start.
On the fronts, well , if it aint' broke don't fix it, you know? Clicking is normally the axle, however a bum strut tower bearing can sound similar in a way, but should sound a little more like it's coming from behind the dash rather than under the car. |

Thanks for the post dude, the car bounces when u hit bumps on the highway and i know the ride can be improved. I'm trying to get this to be a comfy reliable car ya know. Do you think i need any special tools for the axel job? I dont think the back is in bad shape so i wont even touch that.

Well you will need forks (separters for the tie rods and ball joints (actually a air hammer is sometimes easier) and a propane torch.
I also suggest soaking all the nut's and bolts in PB Blaster overnight (a couple of times depending on how bad things are). For the axle job, truth be known I never had to deal with mine, think I've mentioned that before, but most of the time a fair sized pry bar is all you need to get it coming out of the transaxle. I think you can get the step by step off of Autozone's site. New tie rods probably would be a good idea, I had to do mine a couple of times and that really made a nice difference. |
