Remote Keyless Entry

I got a 2002 Alero GLS without the remote FOBs and would like to use the feature.

I found the following web site for the car
http://research.cars.com/go/crp/rese...=&aff=national

It shows that the Remote Key FOB is standard equipment. Can anyone confirm this?

I have seen posts that indicate it must have the RPO code AU0 for RKE to be available. Is this true?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Remote Keyless Entry

The RKE should be standard equipment on your year and model Alero. PM me with the VIN number and I can get someone to confirm whether you have the RKE and a BCM module that supports it.

And welcome to AF.

Re: Remote Keyless Entry

Welcome to AF gtgillis.

Bnaylor asked me to help you on this one, and I"m happy to do so.

The RPO code for the Alero with keyless entry is AU8. I don't see it in your vin loadout, so I don't believe your car has it. When I look up the BCM with your vin entered, it shows BCM #22684971 (EXC AU8 ). If I turn off the vin filter, it shows the BCM with AU8 is #12204969 (which is different than yours). Where it gets tricky is that normally when a car doesn't have remote entry, it will not show an applicable transmitter or receiver module. It does show them for your car even with the vin filter on, so it's sort of conflicting. The best I could suggest is check the service number on your BCM and match it to the ones I posted above. You could also check the rear shelf area for the actual receiver module (Serv# 10385605). If your car does indeed have it, the transmitter part #'s are 25695954 (fob#1) and 25695955 (fob#2).

Re: Remote Keyless Entry

If I understand this thread correctly the 2000 Alero I just purchased may or may not have a keyless entry Fob. The Dealer I bought it form claimed not to know and as a Mazda Dealer I guess it is possible he didn't. I really thought that all cars at this point had them. Can someone please let me know if it is possible that it does not have the equiptment. Thanks.
