Q: How well does Hobby Design window masking tape fit?

Thinking about getting those pre-trimmed window masking tape from Hobby Design. They are quite cheap on eBay. How good is the fit?

Re: Q: How well does Hobby Design window masking tape fit?

Funny you should ask since I bought two off of eBay about a month ago (Tamiya Supra, Tamiya NSX).

I was disappointed when I opened the package only to find that they AREN'T die cut. They're only marked with black lines. You can cut them out carefully with a new #11 blade, but I opted for my excellent Tamiya Decal scissors since trimming curves is easier with scissors than a knife.

The actual mask is great when you get it cut right, but if you're looking for something pre-cut (which is what I automatically thought), these might not be for you. For the price though, you can't go wrong. The fit once trimmed according to the lines is perfect.

Re: Q: How well does Hobby Design window masking tape fit?

I bought the set for the Revell Ferrari Italia. Same as previous message - not die cut, but just as well as they didn't fit at all! I had to draw my own guide lines and cut them out. I might as well have made my own in the first place.
Cheap? Yes.
Do they fit? No.

Roy.

I thought they were made for Fujimi? Don't think they ever made a set for Revell, might be wrong though.

Re: Q: How well does Hobby Design window masking tape fit?

Thanks a lot guys. The 458 set is exactly what I am thinking about buying. I don't mind the extra work to cut the tape off as long as it fits. Maybe I should double check with Hobby Design first.

Preping window trim is too much work

with regards to trimming masks.
Generally speaking, it is easier to cut along curves with a curved blade than it is with a pointed blade.
Give a No.15 blade a try if you can.
