I am doing a complete rebuild of my 89 gli. The dash is cracked, so it is slated to be replaced. The problem is, I can't seem to find all the anchor points. My Chiltons manuel is vague (big surprise) in this area.

Anyone have any expirience remove dashboards? I could use a few pointers.:banghead:

The hardest things to find are the bolts under the cowl. One is located close to the wiper motor (and hard to get to because of it) and the other is spaced about the same distance off center in the other direction.
1. Remove the plastic panel that covers the fuses.
2. Remove the center consol (hidden screws under the plastic trim that holds brake boot).
3. Remove plastic trim around gages and stereo (hidden mounting screws behind light and hazzard switches).
4. Remove the mounting screws on either side of the dash (door jamb) and the ones that are on the front to support brackets.
5. Disconnect the speedometer cable and remove the gages.
6. Remove 2 bolts under cowl.
7. Carefully unwind wires from underside of dash as you take it out.

Note: if you have a digital camera, take pictures of the wire routing as you're taking it apart.
