Hey, welcome to the board.

How hard was it to put on that lower-rear tie-bar? And also, if you have the Neuspeed front sway bar, how hard was that? I've got mine sitting at home right now, haven't had time to tackle the installation yet. Just curious how much time I'm gonna need to put 'em in.

Thanks for the coment. I wanna get another one.
Something more quit. Thanks I will. I'm planning on getting a greddy turbo kit like eric has. But I'm gonna get the intercooler with it.
I'm from Austin Tx.

Yo ci5ci.. To put on the lower rear tie bar was very aRRR hehe.
We spent 4 hours doing it i think. Well I don't have any sway bars.
I have a nuespeed front strut bar, that was easy to put on.

Just curious, did you notice any differences with the Lower Tie Bar? Why was it so hard to put on?

CRX586
06-26-2002, 01:47 AM
Lower Tie Bar

What's the difference between a lower tie bar and sway bar? I know the sway bars bend more, I'm assuming they connect two different things...?

A stock lookin HF with a built ZC....yea that goes for a sleeper in my book, VERY nice setup I likes :flash:

Well the lower tie bar was really hard to put in since somthing would not aline up. We spent a couple hours just trying to get it alined right. We were so happy when it got on. . We shouted with happyness and drank lots of beer.

The sway bar reduces the amount of roll at the track I think. The lower tie bar ties stuff together.

jason I'm so not a post whore. . . I just post alot. haha.
Im gonna invite alot of fat girls to your board to post whore :P

Thanks habib_88. . I was going for the stock sleeper look and now I have it. . I want the hf sticker back on but I took it off :( I'm gonna have to get the sticker again. It makes it look stock and even more sleeper ish. .

I still haven't seen erics user name on this thread yet.

lower tie bar goes under your car and a sway bar goes in the engine, and/or in the back of the hatch in the car.

check this out

it has pictures of a lower tie bar, and a sway bar in the engine.

LOL! Sway Bar in the engine, what the fuck are you guys talking about...

Upper Front Strut Tower Bar - Ties the Front Strut Towers together to reduce flex. Can be seen under the hood of the car towards the firewall.

Upper Rear Strut Tower Bar - Ties the Rear Strut Towers together to reduce flex. Can be seen in the hatch or trunk area.

Lower Front Tie Bar - Ties the front lower control arms together. Can be seen right between the lower control arms.

Lower Rear Tie Bar - Ties the rear lower control arms together. Can be seen right between the lower control arms.

Front Sway Bar - Helps improve handling. Can be seen under and between the rear wheels of the car.

Rear Sway Bar - Helps improve handling. Can be seen under and between the rear wheels of the car.

Yeah welcome man :)

Well they both do similar things I guess ... they both help with the handeling of the car but just in slightly different ways :)

FourthGenHatch is right :)

The strut braces help at extreme speeds when cornering ... when gonig at real high speeds and taking a corner the car can tend to bend a bit and stuff. The strut brace just helps stop this and imporves the turning ... but i guess it only helps at real high speeds :)...

FourthGenHatch:

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Very confusing, everyone seems to mix and match the terms.

What does the sway bar connect to? I was told that I would have to upgrade my car to fit these since I have an HF...

What does the Lower Rear Tie Bar do (aside from tieing the control arms together)?

Sway bars are the most effective, and then?

They are actually called Anti-Sway Bars, but they kind of bolt up to the bottom of the suspension. The easiest way is just go look underneath you car, I am pretty sure a Front Anti-Sway is sort of bent and snake like, while the rear is fairly straight.

I can't really say how much they do but by bracing/reinforcing any part of the suspension you tighten it up and improve handling, and that is what a Tie Bar does.

Sway Bars are probably the best for cornering and such.

From my experience Strut Bars basically make it easier to steer the car, not so much improve handling, but I'm sure they do somewhat.

ci5ic

Ummm... Wouldn't better handling entail making the car easier to steer?

Anyways, The strut braces keep the chassis more rigid, the car won't bend as much in the turns, this in turn helps the cars tires stay flat on the road.

The anti-sway bars help to keep your tires flat while taking a hard turn by stiffening up the suspension.

So I would say that both of them help handling or making the car easier to steer.

ok peeps,

a sway bar prevents body roll in turns, while a strut tower rod helps keep the tires in flat contact with the road, a tie bar connects the control arms together to prevent side-to-side movement of the suspension.

the sway bar attaches to your steering knuckle, the strut bar attaches at the top of your struts inside the engine bay, or in the trunk area. Tie rods, attach to the control arms.

Lookin good,

As far as your subs draining your battery, did you ever consider a more powerful alternator, or a capacitor. Recently I won one on ebay, it hasnt gotten here yet, but I will let you know if it solves my headlight dimming problem.

Hey Li'l C - Welcome to the board...sorry I haven't been here much recently to say hello earlier. I have a couple of comments to make regarding my understanding of the things...

Anti sway bars - these actually twist to help resist as the car body rolls in turns. Larger sway bars offer more twisting resistance, thus better support as the car rolls. There snake shape is designed in as part of the twisting action to provide the resistance. Other than that, I don't really know shit about suspensions, except my Upper Strut Bar sure does help keep my inside wheel on the road during hard cornering :)

Glad to see you are getting into go instead of so much audio...that stuff weighs a lot too, so it will slow you down ;) - I like a nice stereo, but I only have four 6.5" speakers in their stock locations.

I am working on a ZC for my sedan...I bet it is great in the HF!!!

Lil Cs turbo Zc
07-01-2002, 11:45 AM
thank you man :)
I will post some pics of the swap later.

Yeah stock hf with a zc swap is fast...then turbo it would make me happy :)
