ya, the 4th annual TX 3S Gathering in San Antonio was quite fun. the drags were very fun, since i'd never dragged my car. my best time i could pull off (after 7 runs and changing a bunch of stuff up) was 16.01 @ 87.xx mph. my best r/t of the night was .696, and after being explained the stupid reasoning that makes the best possible r/t time a .501, i can say i'm pretty happy with myself. however, i would have liked to break into the 15's. another NA friend of mine did, and it was all in his 60' time. i couldn't lower my 60' time under 2.4; i think he pulled off a 2.2/2.3 60' for his 15.97 run. but he had tread on his front tires, and i only have about 20% tread left. i bet he couldn't pull off another 15 second run, though.
i tried most everything that would help: shifted first at 6500rpm, then later runs changed that to 6100rpm. launches varied from 2500 to 3500 (one launch was at 4000 which resulted in spinning the tires through 1st till i finally caught). like a n00b, i did my first few runs with my windows down (no, i didn't have my a/c on...i'm not that stupid). the last 2 runs i decreased my front tire pressure to 24psi and 20psi, respectively. i did burnouts on probably half the runs (didn't seem to make a difference, though i did avoid the water box everytime, but i did do a few very nice burnouts, and received compliments the next day :)). between the runs, i would shut the engine off, pop the hood, and push it through the lanes to let the engine/intake temps cool. perhaps a bag of ice on the plenum would have helped a little, but i think turbos would have been better.
all in all, it was a ton of fun. basically, i was running a stock dohc 3S with intake, downpipe, and LSD insert. i forgot to bring my testpipe and was too lazy to remove my cat. in the near future, i think i could benefit from an intake pipe, lightweight crank pulley, testpipe (or open downpipe), new/decent tires on the front, check valve timing (reset if necessary...it felt a tooth off, but maybe it was just the traction).
any other suggestions, guys? Stealthee?

Yeah, I was wondering what you were talking about when you said the best r/t was a 0.1. As for Tug's 15.97 run, he had an almost completely stripped interior, plus he's a lightweight compared to us :p From what I've heard, TX 3/S might have a track night sometime in December, so get whatever you want done, and prepare to be beaten by the SOHC:rofl:

If I can get my oil pan issue resolved then I hope to hit up the track before the end of the month. My best ever was my 15.7 with just a test pipe.

so yesterday i was fixing a table with some Gorrila Glue, then i moved onto another project at home. i could have sworn i put the Gorilla Glue on a shelf, but i guess i didn't. well my dog got into the glue!!!
[Gorilla Glue is a polyurethane based glue which expands to 3-4 times its size when drying. not sure how this helps adhesion, but it supposedly does the job well.]
so it appeared, at the time, that my dog (small 10 lb schnauzer/jack russel) ate only a small bit of the glue, since most of it was still there. so i rushed her to an animal clinic. doctor takes x-rays. long story short, dog had surgery to remove a huge ball of the expanded glue that had stretched her entire stomach!!!
since the glue is a polymer, its an inert, inorganic substance which cannot be broken down by stomach acids/enzymes. but since it was soo huge, it couldn't be passed down the intestinal tract out the poop shoot.
but she's recovering, doing fine. i hope she will learn from this that she can't eat just anything that smells decent.
i thought you guys would enjoy those details :D

Glad she's gonna be okay man. Poor dog....I have a cat and we just baby her to death. She's so bad though so taking her to a vet is pretty much out of the picture unless if she's sedated (SP?) or something.

I wish I made that much...
Lets see here...$5.15/h+ $1 per delivery, say an average of 4 deliveries per hour. A nice even $3.00 tip on each delivery. Working...40 hours a week.
So it's showing that I make a bit more than I think I do.
$846 a week.:iceslolan

id probly be poorer if i made that much money. i make like $300 a week but since i don't really have that much money to spend on expensive stuff i end up saving alot of it. if i had a crapload of cash i'd just see stuff that i wanted and say "oh whatever i've got the cash"... until i ran out of cash, lol

So, in the spirit of freedom of speech, my friend and I went to a certain white supremacist forum and took a great big dump on it.
Heres an edited version of the post-

Didn't know if the mods here would get mad, so I edited out everything I thought would offend people.

Haha, I just watched the first Fast and the Furious today. Ive always wondered, how come so many people with their "ricers" tend to buy a new carbonfiber hood (for weight purposes I am guessing), and never paint it? Orange Eclipse with black hood < Volvo Stationwagon.

The whole point why ricers buy carbon fiber hoods arn't for performance gains, its for the, hey everyone, look, I got an Aftermarket hood!!!. So they don't paint em to stand out, Same reasons for the stickers, its the, Hey everybody, look I have a K&N filter pod, or in some cases, hey I have the K&N stickers that I got off my freind who just installed a Filter pod in his civic.

Yeah but I also see some that have just normal type hoods, no scoops or vents or anything. Yeah, theres a kid I used to go to school with that has an orange Integra, its got white racing seats and interior, and his performance mods include: K&N Intake and ricer exhaust. haha, I can beat him in my 92 SL with 5 cylinders and one gear lol.

well for 1, it was cheaper to get a carbon fiber hood than to get a regular hood again, two.. i dont have the money to paint it, and when i do, i will paint the whole car
it feels like its 100lbs lighter, even though its more like 60lbs
and i actually like the look of carbon fiber.

i personally always prefered the CF hood look with a brighter colored car that would set it off more like orange, yellow, red etc... its probably my inner ricer, lol. how much lighter are the cf hoods than the fiberglass hoods for us vs. the stock hoods?

stock is like 70 or maybe more. FG is like 20 and cf 15-18.

i think the cf hood on a white car is teh s3x. on darker colors, the cf hood is more of a subtle difference, but to those who notice it, you are teh s3x. and for those who cannot see it, you are not teh s3x.

CF fenders wouldnt save much if any weight. Our fenders weigh next to nothing. CF doors are available too but you are looking at about $1500. Not worth it and not safe.
